is a taped discussion on the issues facing boys and young
men in our society, primarily the desensitization to sex,
violence, and sexual violence, and the resulting emotional
disconnection. We take an indepth look at the social construction
of manhood, and the many influences that create what many
consider to be the performance of masculinity. Issues
addressed include the media, video games, body image,
boyhoood depression, sex, violence, and sexual violence,
friends with benefits, as well as strategies for parents,
teachers, and treatment professionals to help boys and
young men to break free from the socially constructed
gender box and to be who they are truly meant to be.
